WINE SOURCE BACKGROUND

In 1912, Qingdao Whiskey was born and founded by the German named Crocker. It is located at No. 34 Hunan Road, Shinan District, Qingdao, and was later invested by the German merchant Fuchang Foreign Company.

In 1912, a German grocer named Klaus at No. 34 Hunan Road used high-quality fresh grapes from Qingdao as raw materials and oak barrels with a capacity of 600 liters brought from Germany. Following traditional German fermentation techniques, he produced high-quality wine. Due to the excellent raw materials and authentic craftsmanship, this wine has a pure taste, rich aroma, and excellent sales. Later, it was invested by German merchant Fuchang Foreign Company to establish a wine workshop, which was the first wine workshop in the Qingdao region. China's first bottle of champagne, first bottle of whiskey, and first bottle of brandy were produced here. A hundred years ago, Qingdao wine had a unique and resounding name called Melco, which translates to "Meikou" in Chinese.

In 1930, it was acquired by German Shangmei Shishi Foreign Company and named Qingdao Meikou Distillery

In 1930, the Qingdao branch of the German merchant Meijishi Foreign Company was re established at No. 6 Zhejiang Road. In the same year, Meijishi invested in the acquisition of all the wine making equipment of the Fuchang Foreign Company, added five 4000 liter wine barrels, and self-made equipment such as freezers and wooden grape presses, forming a larger scale of wine production. The foreign company promoted its products under the name of the Meikou Grape Winery, which was also established at the same time, based on its English Melco transliteration.

From 1947 to 1964, the Kuomintang's bureaucratic capital acquired the affiliated Qingdao Brewery. In June 1949, Qingdao was liberated and taken over by the Chinese People's Government. In 1959, Meikou Brewery was renamed Qingdao Winery. In 1964, Qingdao Winery separated from Qingdao Brewery.

In 1947, the Meikou Distillery, along with breweries, vegetable oil factories, rubber factories, and flour factories, were acquired by Kuomintang bureaucratic capital. Meikou Brewery is affiliated with Qingdao Brewery and is known as the "Meikou Liquor Group" for business convenience. It is still known as Meikou Brewery externally, and the trademark continues to use the "Meikou Brand" double diamond shaped trademark. Before 1949, due to factors such as a lack of raw materials, high alcohol taxes, and inconvenient transportation, production and development were constrained. In addition to relying on distributors, product sales still relied on some self sales, with the main market still being the old markets in other cities.

After the liberation of Qingdao in June 1949, Meikou Distillery was taken over by the Chinese People's Government. Qilu Company's Military Management Committee sent military representative Xu Dianlin to Meikou Distillery, and production resumed. For the convenience of management, it is still under the jurisdiction of Qingdao Brewery as its fruit wine workshop (fifth workshop) and is still known as Meikou Brewery externally. At the same time, the system of leading workers has been abolished and democratic management has been implemented.

In 1959, under the instructions of the Sugar and Liquor Industry Administration of the Ministry of Light Industry (formerly the Ministry of Food Industry), in order to eliminate the imperialist color of domestic famous liquors. With the approval of the Qingdao Municipal Government and the Light Industry Bureau, "Meikou Distillery" has been renamed as "Qingdao Winery", and the trademark has been changed to the black trademark "Lighthouse" of Qingdao Brewery, abolishing the original Meikou diamond trademark. Qingdao Winery has truly embarked on the stage of history.

On February 28, 1964, with the approval of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Qingdao Winery and Qingdao Brewery were separated and operated independently, under the jurisdiction of Qingdao First Light Industry Bureau, and also the only wine production enterprise in Qingdao.

In the mid to late 1990s, Qingdao Winery faced difficulties due to poor management and went bankrupt in 1996. With several generations of life, Qingdao Winery reluctantly bid farewell to the market and withdrew from the historical stage.

In 2005, it was acquired by Qingdao Huadong Grape Brewery. In the 1980s, Qingdao Whiskey Distillation Institute restarted the production of Qingdao whiskey

In 2005, Qingdao Huadong Grape Brewery Co., Ltd. announced the acquisition of the nearly century old Qingdao Winery and re registered Jiahai (Qingdao) Wine Co., Ltd., injecting huge funds to launch the "Qingdao" brand wine comeback project. The factory site was relocated to No. 12 Siliu South Road, which is not far from the old factory site.

In the decade, with the rapid development of China's economy, especially in recent years, the lifestyle and consumption ideas of the new generation accelerated the rise of the "China-Chic", and also gave a new life to Qingdao whisky, which is in possession of a few inheritance technologies and seeks to break through. In order to meet the growing interest and demand of Chinese people for whiskey and its culture, Qingdao Whiskey Distillation Institute has restarted the production of Qingdao whiskey, committed to creating Chinese people's own high-quality whiskey.

Based on the inheritance technology of Qingdao whisky, Qingdao Whiskey Distillation Institute combines modern whisky production techniques to innovate and comprehensively benchmark foreign well-known whisky brands, enriching the aroma and taste of Qingdao whisky. Qingdao launches new products.

As a century old brand of the island city, it can all be called the business card of Qingdao's century old history. Her rebirth has made countless old Qingdao feel relieved. Seeing their old memories again will also evoke more or less beautiful memories for us.

Qingdao whiskey, a cup of mellow and intoxicating wine for a hundred years. Looking forward to a better tomorrow for Qingdao Whiskey!
